Dull Moment??

Hey, does anyone remember what it is like to have a dull moment? We are certainly lacking them around here these days!

I am sorry I have not been visiting your blogs this week, but it has been a little hectic here...more so than usual. Ryan had another bad biking accident a few days ago and it resulted in numerous spinal injuries. I got a call at work the night it happened and they told me that I needed to call home for a family emergency. That took a few years off my life! Dave tells me that Ryan had an accident and he was on his way to the ER with him. Now, Dave always downplays things and always wants my opinion on things, so the fact that he knew it was bad enough to not even check with me...well, that frightened me!
Dave was in the ER with him all night into the morning, while I stayed home with the girls. He kept calling every hour or so to update me on what tests were being done and so on. At about 3 a.m., he called to tell me they had done the CT scan and found 3 fractures in his neck. They were transporting him to another hospital with a trauma team. Lost another year or two there!

At the second hospital, they did more testing and found a few fractures in his middle back area as well. Lots of pain/bruising in his ribcage, but nothing broken there. They admitted him and we waited to hear from the spine surgical team. The wonderful news is that they did not suggest surgery. He is now home with the neck brace for the next few months. He has to wear it 24/7 and is frustrated by that. Yes, he should realize how lucky he is to be spared spinal surgery, but he is 14. We will go back to the spine specialist next week and see if things are going how they should. The idea is to keep the neck immobilized, so as not to cause further damage.
It has been a long week, but we are praising God that He spared Ryan in many ways with this accident!!

Yesterday, we had a BEAUTIFUL weather day out here and we got out in between appointments to enjoy some of it. Ella was soooo happy to have a "bubble weather" day! And I was thrilled to be able to take some outside pictures!

I hope everyone is well and I will try to visit you all very soon!!!

Oh boy, I hope Ryan is OK. My brother broke his neck in a motorcycle accident. Thankfully he only had to wear a neck brace for 3 months also. But he said its REALLY hard to sleep with it on. I hope he is not in too much pain. The girls look like they had lots of fun outside. I cant believe how much "older" Sophie looks !
