Fun in the Sand

We are back from Ocean City and had a really nice time away. It seems like we are all always going in different it was nice to all be in the same place together while enjoying the sun and the sand and not having an agenda or a schedule.

Ella LOVED her vacation at the beach! She has been home with us for 2 1/2 years and anytime in the past that we have gone away....she has always had a lot of anxiety. Well, this time....she was soooo excited about going and loved every minute of being there and was a bit sad when it was time to leave for home. It was such a good feeling for Dave and I watch her enjoy herself so much and not be fearful and anxious about being away from home. It is as if she finally fully "gets it" that we WILL go back home and she will be coming with us! She is really such a free spirit these days and fills our days with sunshine!

Now, of course, it is too soon for Sophie to understand the concept of going away and coming back home, so as much as she liked playing in the sand....we had huge meltdowns every afternoon. One day she will enjoy vacations, too!

Chelsea's boyfriend, Joe, came along with us this year. He is a very nice guy....on the quiet side, so hopefully our not-so-quiet family didn't scare him too much. lol!

My sister, Sharon and her family were also with us. Here is Zachary and Hanna having fun with the girls digging holes and building sand castles.

Ella liked the ocean from a bit of a distance. As soon as a wave came close, she held on tightly! I thought this was a cute picture capturing her hesitancy!
So, you all know that I have a hard time narrowing down which pictures to I will do another post soon with some more pix. I hope you are all well and I am anxious to visit everyone to see what is new with you and your families!
Blessings to you!

These pictures are fantastic! You got lots of good ones of Sophie!

I'm glad Ella is grasping the coming back home thing. Sophie will get it one day too. It seems like any time there was a change in our schedule at all (late bedtime because of going out to dinner, etc.) Olivia was having nightmares. It has gotten so much better, but Mia still isn't there yet.

I'm glad you had a nice vacation! The beach soothes me like nothing else.

Looks like a fun time! Great photos. My, does Ella have a beautiful tan!! It looks like Chelsea got herself a handsome one. heehee I'm so happy you had some time away and that Ella is finally understanding that home will always be waiting for her. That is something Lauren still hasn't figured out. Here is praying that next summer brings the same peace to Sophie. Can't wait to see more photos!

so glad you had fun. You know that was the tough part with all 3 of mine. The sleeping in a strange place.
Love the pics and looking forward to more. :)

Ohhhh how fun and relaxing that looks.
I had a few extra days off this week and all I did was clean and dump junk I did not need.
What great news to hear that Ella did so well.
Just a sighn of Gods continued presence and answering prayers.
Soooo very happy to hear things are getting better.

I am so glad to hear you had a great time!! I loved the pictures of the kids. They looked so happy just to be chilling at the beach. How great that Ella now realizes she will still go home. It took Anna Grace a while to figure that out too. Now she asks why we can't go to a hotel. Uhh. 'Cause we're not traveling??? Cracks me up. :-)

I am so glad that you guys had such a wonderful vacation!

It looks like Sophie and Ella loved the surf and sand. I love the little "tootsies" picture. Nothing like little feet in the sand.

So glad Ella enjoyed herself so much and was carefree.

Welcome home!

I'm so glad you had such a realaxing and fun time! It's amazing how long it takes for them to "learn" about vacations and going back home. I love the pictures and can't wait to see more.

The pictures are great!!!! Welcome home! It's funny what triggers the melt downs. We were at EPCOT and Goose doesn't like to hear the music in China. It must be so scary to them thinking they aren't going to be coming back home. Glad that you had a good time.
Please email your address- so I can send you the bows.

I Love Sophie's big grin in the hole in the sand and then I love her expression when all of the kids are in the looks as if she is saying, "Ummm..this is my hole...everyone OUT! Love her!

I especially love the last picture hanging on to Daddy's arm. Glad you guys had a good time!

Aww, welcome home!! I love beach pictures. I love beach vacations. Maybe it IS that sense of everyone just "being" - being together with no real agenda. Whatever it is..I really miss it!

Beautiful pictures of a beautiful family!!

Jane has anxiety when we travel too. Doesn't your heart ache for your children to KNOW you are never going to leave them and they are ALWAYS comingg home?! So glad to hear there was break through!

Looks like you had a great time!

It's good to hear that things get better with anxiety. Dori has had some anxiety issues and I am starting to notice that she is relaxing a little bit. She is starting preschool in a few weeks. We opted for a cooperative school that parents are required/allowed to be in the class. I am hoping as the year goes on that she will feel more comfortable and I won't have to stay.

Oh how I wish we could go to the beach!

Michelle -- I especially loved that last photo, as I'm always looking for ideas for non-face shots. Just stunning! (all of the photos were) Thanks for sharing your trip with us.

Welcome home!!! So glad to see you had fun! Those pics are great and I cannot even begin to pick a favorite or two!! You got some really beautiful shots of the kids and the beach.

Glad to hear Ella had fun and I hope Sophie did too in spite of the tantrums. Busy Boy still has trouble when we travel too. I know we are in a similar boat so it's nice to read someone else who goes through the same problems we do when traveling (the tantrums).

Welcome back!!!
