BaBa and His Ella

PA191163

These pictures really do not need much explanation! Ella and her BaBa have a very special relationship that I just love to watch. Dave was one of those hubbys that I needed to persuade quite a bit about adopting. He had nothing against adopting....more so about adding kids to our family when he was at an age to start looking forward to retiring. Well, as soon as we met Ella....his heart melted. He carried her around(still does) with SO much pride. Oh, how he loves his girl and she loves him!

My friend, Tonggu Momma, is just a wealth of info and is the Link Queen! I did not realize that this month was the month dedicated to Sensory Processing Disorder...but in honor our little Miss Sophie.....I would like to bring mention to this and link you over to Tonggu Momma's site where you can learn more about this by reading here and here. The more we know about this....the better we are prepared to help our little ones....and please remember that our adopted ones are at a pretty high risk of this, because of their beginnings, but it is certainly NOT limited to children who have been adopted. Sadly...most insurance companies do not recognize SPD as a diagnosis. I would invite any of the higher-ups who make these decisions...to spend a day or two with a child affected by it...then they can see for themselves just how "real" it is. There are some wonderful OT's out there that specialize in treating SPD...but without help from insurance....many of us are not able to utilize their services.

Found these cute little Pumpkin Push Ins at Wal-mart. They are like Mr. Potato Head pieces with little skewers at the end to push in and decorate and make a face of your choice...no carving tools necessary!

The song playing in the background is one of my new favorites...the main verse lyrics are below.....I pray this over and over now throughout my day. Pretty powerful stuff!

Give me your eyes for just one second
Give me your eyes so I can see
Everything that I keep missing
Give me your love for humanity
Give me your arms for the broken hearted
The ones that are far beyond my reach
Give me your heart for the once forgotten

And speaking of powerful....I find myself fearful with the upcoming election for just so many reasons. We really need to be in prayer for our upcoming President. I want to give you one more link to a post I read this morning that I found quite meaningful. Thanks, Ohilda.....for being their voice! All I can say...is I am forever grateful that my 2 youngest ones did not have birth mothers who believed in pro-choice. Amen.

Ella's Nursery School had a Fall Festival and it was just so much fun. They do this instead of a pumpkin patch trip and when I first heard about it, I was slightly disappointed that the class would not be going to a pumpkin patch. But, let me tell you...this festival was so much more fun than any pumpkin patch we have been to. Her pre-school is at our church and our church is located on a very large property....so we didn't even have to travel...they had this right on the church/school property. They had hay rides, mazes, face painting, crafts, snacks, gardening activities, sing alongs, cow "milking", egg finding and many games. And as an extra treat...there were many people from our church family volunteering their time to help make this an extra fun day!

I received my magnet in the mail this week and it is REALLY nice. Please check out this website to order yours. The family is fund raising for an upcoming adoption and with such a great price for these magnets.....maybe you can order one for yourself and one for a friend, as I did.(Robin, no need for you to order one.) You will be happy you ordered some of these magnets!

Also, I was asked to pass along this website of a family that needs our help...so if you could stop by and read their story.... I would much appreciate it! Sorry, Daleea and Robin...could not get the widget to work.

May you all have a wonderful week-end with your families!!!!!

Tagged!

Here we go....Amie and Laura have both tagged me and I am actually getting around to doing this in a timely manner. ha!

1. I MUST have some kind of cover over me to sleep....no matter how hot it is and I must be on my tummy. That explains why I did not sleep so well during my pregnancies!

2. I do not like driving. If I could never drive again...I would NOT miss it! I get a lot of anxiety if I have to drive in really busy traffic and will not drive in the big cities. Now, I do drive everyday and actually drive A LOT...I have no choice. But I don't like it much!

3. I love sweets and am a carb junkie. I could eat pizza every day and not tire of it. I don't...but I could!

4. I married when I was only 21 and had Chelsea when I was 23. That seems so young to me now. It did not at the time...but it would be much too young for my kids to marry! : )

5. I am very squeamish with eye things. I can not handle anything having to do with eyes. And God has helped me start to get over that with blessing me with a child that has an eye condition.... and who has needed and will need surgeries. I was sooo proud of myself for staying in an upright position after Sophie's first eye surgery when her eye started BLEEDING! oh, my!

6. I love animals and have always, since a young age, had a very special place in my heart for them.

7. My memory is just not like it used to be. Call it brain overload, or Mommy brain, or just one of the things that comes with age....but it is definitely not what it once was! Now...what was I saying?

I want to thank Cecilia, who had chosen me to break bread with her this past week. She prayed for me all week and then sent this gift card for Chili's. What a blessing!

p.s. sorry for the sideways pic...it is not wanting to cooperate and I just don't have time to fix it now.

One last thing.....

I discovered these a few weeks ago in the food store and I am loving them. I try to eat tuna every day for lunch, but just can't do without the bread (see #3 above). These sandwich thins are only 100 calories and taste great!

I know I am supposed to tag 7 more people....but so many of you have already been tagged and I would never be able to keep track of who has and hasn't been tagged (see #7 above). So...if you have not been tagged and want to play along...please do!

Orange Cuteness

PA110975
We had such a beautiful week-end here and since we had long planned this to be our pumpkin patch week-end....we were very happy to have such nice weather! We spent the day on Saturday with our friends Maira, Victor and little Maria. The girls got to pick apples for the first time and they loved it! They took the job of apple picking very seriously...it was so cute to watch!! Ella got to have a pony ride...which may or may not have been her first time...my memory is failing me on that one! They were able to pet some farm animals and each pick their own pumpkin. It was a blessing to be able to spend the day with our friends!

Of course the day was way too overstimulating for one little miss and you will see her BaBa exiting with her when we knew she just could not take any more.
