New Year Celebration

Warning: Lots of pics! : )

On Saturday, we went to Atlantic City for a celebration of the Chinese New Year. It was about a 2 hour drive for us, but SO worth the ride! They had the ballrooms at Caesar's and Balley's converted into mini China towns with decorations, music, vendors and performances filling the was truly spectacular. We have to find out if this is something they do annually, because we will definitely go back next year, but will probably spend the night there next time.

They started the celebrations with the Dragon Dance and Lion Dancers! They moved quickly with their dancing, so it was hard to catch pictures.

The afternoon was filled with performances of every type of traditional Chinese performances/arts that you could imagine...and then some! These are just a few of what we saw. We had to leave by 6, but there were supposed to be even more amazing shows coming at 6 and 9 p.m. I would have loved to stay for those, but Sophie's limit was well reached by that time. All of the performances we did see...and it was a lot...were just spectacular!

Cute little dragon puppet that we bought for the girls!

This cute little guy loved Ella and kept wanting to play dragon with her!

This is a paper cutting that they made for charge! Actually...the whole day was free. No admission charge and no charges for the cool is that?!

Thanks Peeps, for indulging my Mommy and looking at all our pictures!!!
Happy New Year! : )

That is fantastic! We had a small FCC event here in our town, and there's a traveling Chinese acrobat troupe coming here next weekend. Tickets are horribly expensive, so we can't go. How lucky that your event was free!

The girls look beautiful as always. I have to laugh now when I see a picture of Sophie after you described teaching her to smile for pictures. I really need to do that with Mia.

I hope today's a good day at your house!

WOW!! What an amazing CNY celebration. I think we need to have a bloggy "union" (no re- yet) there next year! You had me at the vendors. I would have been happy with that, but it looks like there were some spectacular performances.
