Pumpkins and Candy

Looking at what the neighbors are doing. "Is it time, yet? Time for candy?"

Pretty Pink Butterfly

Pretty Snow White

Sooo excited!

We had trick or treating last night. The area where we live always has it the Friday before Halloween.

We did see the sun last Sunday and were able to get our pumpkin patch trip in! Very happy about that and I do not believe we have seen the sun SINCE.

My Sister's beautiful family...

Chinese class this morning. The teacher asked the kids to wear costumes to class.

I hope that you all have a great week-end!!! Just an Dad is doing really well recovering from his bypass surgery. He will probably be in the hospital a few more days...but is doing well in his healing. Thanks sooo much for the prayers!

My stent came out yesterday and I was soooo happy about that! The doctor is talking like it is a probability that I will need to have the other side repaired and go through this whole thing again. I will continue to be monitored for that. But God is the Almighty Healer and I will pray that He has other plans. Either way, He got me through the first one and will get me through another, if that is the plan. : )

Enjoy your week-end with your pumpkins!!!!!!

Be Blessed, my friends!!!

Pumpkins and Princesses

Every now and then, this little one, out of the blue, decides to give the nicest natural smile for my camera. This is one of those times! She is such a pretty little girl!

The local University has a group of Chinese students that have an annual festival celebrating their fascinating heritage. We enjoy going and the college students love when the little ones come. This year it was indoors, because we are experiencing a lot of rain in our area. I did not get too many pictures, but these are a few.

Ella's pre-school had their annual Fall Festival last week, which was also held indoors, because....uh, rain.

We have not done our family pumpkin patch trip, yet. Can you guess why? : )
Here is hoping that tomorrow cooperates with some sunshine as it will be our last week-end day before Halloween.

This little pumpkin wants to remind you that if you have not scheduled that mammo, yet...please do!

And this, my friends is to remind you that sometimes it really helps to laugh at ourselves. And laugh we did! Chelsea did not believe that I would actually post this picture. The festival we went to had some traditional Chinese dress outfits for people to wear and pose for a picture. My hubby looks (and felt like) he was being punished here. hee hee! I look prego, for some reason....not sure what that is all about. When the girl was helping me into the Princess attire, I told her that I must be larger than the average Chinese which she giggled and agreed. Ella ran from us once we were dressed up. So, here is your laugh for the day......

Chels came home for the week-end and we are so happy to see her!!!! Last night, she had several of her friends over and I realized that there was something that I have really missed(besides her) with her being away. The sound of laughing/giggling teen girls! Ryan does not have too many people over. Uh, could it have to do with things such as the above picture? But, even when he does....boys laughing is just not the same as girls giggling! Funny how we miss the simplest things in life sometimes.

I hope you are all having a great week-end. If you have seen the sun where you live, could you kindly send it to the NorthEast? Remeber to enjoy the simple things and most blessed, my friends!!!

Are You Meek??

Healing Choices: Be Teachable, Not Unreachable

From Rick Warren-Purpose Driven Life

Meekness means you have a teachable spirit. Meek people are eager to learn. They know they don't know it all and they don't try to pretend they know it all.

James 1:19 is one of my favorite Bible verses: "Understand this, my dear brothers and sisters: You must all be quick to listen, slow to speak, and slow to get angry" (NLT). It tells how to control your temper. In fact, if you do the first two, the third is automatic. When you're quick to listen, and slow to speak, you will be slow to anger.

On the other hand, if we're slow to listen and quick to speak, we'll be quick to anger. We need to listen; use our ears; and be teachable, not unreachable.

When someone makes a constructive suggestion, how do you respond to it? Do you get uptight and defensive? Are you open or closed to new ideas? Are you open to change or closed to change? When we are meek someone can correct us because we're teachable, not unreachable.

A few weeks ago I saw this sign: "I'd rather change my mind and succeed than have my own way and fail." Proverbs 13:18 says, "If you ignore criticism, you will end in poverty and disgrace; if you accept correction, you will be honored" (NLT). A meek person is not a weak person; rather, a meek person is understanding, not demanding; gentle, not judgmental.

A meek person is someone who has made the healing choice to be teachable.

The above is from Rick Warrens' Purpose Driven Life, which I receive through daily e-mails. I have always struggled with that whole weak/meek idea. I work in retail (Wal-mart) and have done so for the past 14 years. It is challenging to work with the general public. I witness things daily that I would prefer not to, but I know God has me there for a reason. I often think that my Faith walk would be so much easier if I worked in a less hostile environment, where I did not have things thrown at me and called swear words. Where I did not get screamed at on a regular basis or have to watch people stealing, and lying and cheating and hurting one another. Where the Christmas Holiday transforms from what should be a beautiful rejoicing of our Savior's birth to a very aggressive/hostile holiday that is all about material worship. I often feel like shouting above all the chaos, "you have forgotten Jesus!!"

But do you know what....that whole unpleasant experience that I call work HAS helped me to grow in my faith walk! It has helped me figure out that whole meek/week thing. Yes, it would be easier to work in a calm environment with other Christians, but I do not think that I would have grown spiritually as much as I have. I doubt that I would have accepted that meek is preferable and does not equal week!! For the many times that I have wondered WHY He has me working there.....may I never forget He has a Plan. Thank-you, Father for always making sure I am right where I need to be at just the right time!

Be blessed, my friends!!

Seeing Pink

It has been a week since I last posted. A whole lot of healing has gone on in that week. I am oh, so thankful to share with you that I am feeling much better. Each day brings a little more strength and a little more normalcy. Yay, God!! Thanks bunches for all of your prayers!! Also, the cards and flowers and thinking-of-you gifts I have received really helped to keep the sun(and the Son!) shining over here!

October is Breast Cancer Awareness month. All of the blinking pink over here is to remind you to go and get those mammograms. This is something that is very near and dear to my heart as I had quite a scare with it a year ago this month. I am on the 6 month plan now with my mammos. Please do not put off your mammos because you are healthy or because there is no family history of cancer or because mammograms are for older people. Please grab a friend or your sister and go get smooshed. It is sooo important!!!

Be blessed, my friends!!!

Blessings on the Road to Healing

myles and ella

I was originally going to share more about this past week, but after thinking about it, I realized it will not help me right now in my healing process. It was far rougher than I could have anticipated, but it is BEHIND me now and I would like to document my blessings in the healing process. I am doing this to help myself move forward in healing.

Blessings..big and small

**My SIL came from SC last week and took care of the girls and made sure they got to where they needed to be each and every day...not an easy task! The cuteness above, that you will not recognize, is her little boy. How cute is this picture of him and Ella together?

**My SIL from England is here this week tending to all that needs to be tended to while I am working on healing.

**Our church and local Mom's Club has organized 2 weeks worth of meals for our family..leaving one less thing to have to worry about.

**My kitchen counter is full of beautiful flowers and cards...making my days brighter!

**I have a visiting nurse coming to my home, who is MOST helpful with her advice!!

**My catheter and bag was removed today at the doctor's office!!!!! Coming home with that has not been very pleasant, but it is now gone! Just when I was getting the hang of using it and changing it. : )

**I am now able to shower myself!!

**I have days where the pain is unbearable(yesterday was one of them) but I also have days that are not so bad...TODAY is one of them!! Thank-you, God!

**I am having trouble with pain while I am lying down, but last night figured a semi-comfortable way to sleep sitting up in a chair!!

**I have a stent in for another month that is very painful, but I am now one week closer to getting that removed.

**My parents, who have been a big help in getting me to appointments and such!!!

**I am not a person who likes to depend on others, that has had to change for this all to happen. That is a lesson that will only bring me closer to God as I learn to completely depend on Him for all of my needs.

**I usually try to remember one day at a healing has changed that gear to one hour at a time. I WILL get there!!! My love to all of y0u for your prayers...HUGE blessing!!!

Be Blessed, my friends!!!!

Friday night and I. Am. Home. Just got in an hour ago. Thank-you, Jesus! It has been a really long week with quite a few struggles, but I pray it will be uphill from here. Today is the first day that I have felt like a human, so to speak. I can't write much now, but want to thank you all from the bottom of my heart!! Your prayers mean so much to me. God is good.....ALL the time. My love to you all!!

Be blessed, my friends!!
