3 Years Ago Today

P2061903

Dear Ella,

Three years ago today, we rode on a small bus...on our way to meet you for the very first time. I will never forget that day...the moments of anticipation as we were on our way to finally be able to see you in person! Mommy was so excited and nervous at the same time. Ba Ba was nervous and on the quiet side. Would you like us? Would you be terrified? How big were you? You had just underwent open heart surgery, would you be feeling well? Oh, the excitement and anticipation.......

And then all of a sudden....there you were! And our hearts would be changed from that day on....with a love for you that we would not have been able to imagine!

They had you dressed in 4 layers and you were soooo hot! Bless your heart! Today, I pulled out your box of clothes from Gotcha Day and showed them all to you. They brought back so many memories. You told me you did not like the way they smelled. Mommy never washed them, so the smell would be the same and I guess the smell of your SWI may have brought back some not so nice memories...because you told me to put them away because you "do not want to smell them anymore"!

God blessed us with the sweetest little girl from all of China......how did we ever get so lucky and how did God see us as so deserving as to bless us with the gift of YOU! Your sweet face 3 years ago.......

Happy Gotcha Day to our friends...the Geer family and to Vicki and her family....whose 4 ladybug princesses will soon be five!!!!!

I will be away from the computer this week....so I will catch up with you all when I return. Have a wonderful week!

Meet Karl

Starfish Legend

An older man was walking along a beach when he saw a young boy. Along the shore were many starfish that had been washed up by the tide and were sure to die before the tide returned. The boy was walking slowly along the shore and occasionally reached down and tossed a beached starfish back into the ocean. The older man, hoping to teach the boy a little lesson in common sense, walked up to the boy and said, "I have been watching what you are doing, son. You have a good heart, and I know you mean well, but do you realize how many beaches there are around here and how many starfish are dying on every beach every day? Surely, such an industrious and kindhearted boy such as yourself could find something better to do with your time. Do you really think that what you are doing is going to make a difference?"
The boy looked up at that man, and then he looked down at a starfish by his feet. He picked up the starfish, and as he gently tossed it back into the ocean, he said,
"For this one, it makes a difference."

Our economy is hard right now...people are feeling a bit of desperation that they have not felt in the past. But I can be sure that as hard as the economical situation is on many of us, Karl and many other children are in a much more critical situation. Karl and 12 other abandoned babies, all cleft affected, were in need of a home.... as the local orphanage was not able to care for them. Thankfully, Amanda has taken these precious children in on a huge Leap of Faith. Please go here to learn more about these children and how you can help, because....."For this one, it makes a difference". You can also e-mail Kim at timnkim@gmail.com for more info.

We are all called by God to help the orphans.... will you please pray about how you can help? We are one of Karl's sponsors...would you please consider being a sponsor to one of these sweet children? The last I checked, sweet Nick and Jasmine did not have even one sponsor. Go take a look at these perfect children of God.

New Year Celebration

Warning: Lots of pics! : )

On Saturday, we went to Atlantic City for a celebration of the Chinese New Year. It was about a 2 hour drive for us, but SO worth the ride! They had the ballrooms at Caesar's and Balley's converted into mini China towns with decorations, music, vendors and performances filling the rooms...it was truly spectacular. We have to find out if this is something they do annually, because we will definitely go back next year, but will probably spend the night there next time.

They started the celebrations with the Dragon Dance and Lion Dancers! They moved quickly with their dancing, so it was hard to catch pictures.

The afternoon was filled with performances of every type of traditional Chinese performances/arts that you could imagine...and then some! These are just a few of what we saw. We had to leave by 6, but there were supposed to be even more amazing shows coming at 6 and 9 p.m. I would have loved to stay for those, but Sophie's limit was well reached by that time. All of the performances we did see...and it was a lot...were just spectacular!
